It’s perfect timing. The olympics have just ended, and given Vancouver the time of its life. We had the world in our city, and the true north strong and free was on everyone’s radar. Everyone wanted to know who we were, what we were all about, and, unfortunately, whether we had cell phones and modern homes, and anything but constant snow. Well, we proved we had no constant snow, no snow at all, for that matter – and we tried to define ourselves in both meaningful and comical ways through the likes of incredible spoken poetry and ridiculous moose and mountie parades. At the end of it all, we got to have the best party of our lives in the streets of this city when Canada won the most gold medals in winter olympic history. So, does the world now know who we are as Canadians? For one, we’re freaking CHAMPIONS. But another question we find important, that too defines who we are, is what do Canadians care about? What’s in Canada’s thought bubble?
That’s the question we’re going to find the answers to, from hopefully tens to hundreds of fellow Canadians we’ll talk to on our road trip home. If you didn’t already know from our last post, Smart Bubble Society is moving our arses from Vancouver, British Columbia to Toronto, Ontario. We’re doing a cross-Canada trip with our mascot Fable, who’ll help warm up the people we talk to with snuggles and unbearable Berner charm. We’ll ask everyone we come across from all the nooks and crannies of the true Canada landscape what they think is, and should be in Canada’s thought bubble. We already know what Canadian Member of Parliament for the New Democratic Party, Don Davies, thinks, and we’ll share that with you, along with all the other answers we get in a resulting thought bubble entitled, What’s in Canada’s Thought Bubble?
Along the way, we’ll try to share as many fun and defining moments as we can via Twitter. I personally hope to find a dinosaur in the Badlands, and experience the best Canadian diner food I can find – which, if you know any, DO share! Oh how I wish Guy Fieri did a Canadian special for Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.
